Deadline reached !

Early in the morning and last day of the year 2013, saw another candidate houseboat which was a “Katwijker” of 30 meters in Rotterdam. Made a call when we could have a look; would be possible still that same day. We had no plans so far for old year’s eve, so decided to go to Rotterdam and book a hotel to stay over the night.

Once arrived, we found out it was an agency selling the boat for a guy. Went to the boot and found a guy who was quite desperate the sell the boat. His price was around 130k, made an offer of 90k and had a nice talk to the agency guy who offered us a glass of wine.

When heading to the hotel, thought that I didn’t really want that boat, but for that offer I would consider it anyway. Worries for later; we ill first check in the hotel and go explorer the Rotterdam city on new year’s Eve. Seems we absolutely need to see the fireworks from the bridge.

Spending some time in the city in the pouring rain, we received a text message from the selling guy that they would not sell for the offer we’ve made. Felt a bit disappointed because I made the promise to myself that if we didn’t buy a boat by New Year, we give up the idea.

After finding dinner and a drink, we went outside for a walk and were shocked of the way people were firing fireworks randomly in the street. it was like a warzone; could never imaging that this would be possible in Belgium.

We went to the Kralingse Brug to watch the fireworks. Not many people because still pouring rain and cold wind. At midnight, the fireworks and music reached its climax and I got another text message from the selling guy wishing me a Happy New Year. That was nice of the guy. The fire-works were amazing and we forgot a bit the reason why we were in Rotterdam.

The day after, I found back my car without visual damages although it was surrounded by firework parts. Let’s head back home and see what will come next…
