The second of Jan, found an end-of-career-cargo spitz quite nearby in Evergem. We received quite quickly we could go for a look the same day, so we did so.
Once arrived, we were quite impressed of the shape of the boat; the owners showed how much they cared about the ship. It was well maintained and just had all certifications from the dry dock inspection.

As this ship had its maintenance and certification in October 2013 and hardy work after anymore, we trusted that the ship was in good condition without a new dry dock inspection.
We slowly found out that this would become our ship and we were going further in the purchasing steps while agreeing on a final price.
if you buy a ship, find out what will remain or be removed from the ship for the price that you buy it. These things you don’t immediately think about make a big difference when present or removed:
Generator, thruster/sturn (boegschroef/hekschroef)
The furniture inside the shippers-house, VHF, AIS, …
The equipment (ropes, water-pumps, tools, rescue boat & motor, …)
Consumables (diesel in the tank, paint)
